The RX1217 seamlessly scales up the storage capacity of the Synology RS3617xs,RS3614xs+, RS3413xs+, RS3412xs/RS3412RPxs and RS2212+/RS2212RP+,RS2414+,RS2414RP+ by an additional 12 hard drives.

| Description | The Synology RX1217 is a 12-bay rackmount expansion unit designed to seamlessly increase storage capacity for compatible Synology RackStation servers. Connecting via a high-bandwidth InfiniBand expansion cable, the RX1217 allows online RAID/volume expansion and can serve as a local backup destination. It supports 2.5" and 3.5" SATA III/II HDDs and 2.5" SATA SSDs (hot-swappable), uses SATA 6 Gb/s for installed drives, includes a 500W power supply (single; RX1217RP variant offers redundant dual PSUs), and is managed through Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM). Package contents include the main unit, accessory pack, AC power cord(s), an InfiniBand expansion cable and a Quick Installation Guide. Backed by a 5-year limited warranty. |
